Abstract

Three irrigation techniques were studied to reduce the water supply in the potato crop (Solanum tuberosum L.), for this, the total yield of the crop obtained from each irrigation technique was evaluated, as well as the water consumption used throughout the vegetative period and application efficiency for surface irrigation. The irrigation techniques were: partial irrigation of the root zone plus intermittent irrigation, intermittent irrigation and continuous irrigation. The experimental design consisted of 6 blocks in a total net area of ??1080 m2. The statistical design of the experiment was determined by completely randomized blocks with a 3 by 6 arrangement. The total yields for the technique of partial irrigation of the root zone plus intermittent irrigation was 42.12 tn*ha-1, for intermittent irrigation 38.36 tn*ha-1 and for continuous irrigation 35.30 tn*ha-1 was obtained. The water consumption used throughout the vegetative period was 1446.97 m3*ha-1, 2903.24 m3*ha-1 and 5025.21 m3*ha-1. The application efficiency was 60.17%, 59.97% and 34.63. Obtaining that the technique of partial irrigation of the root zone plus intermittent irrigation was the most efficient method with the highest yield, obtaining an approximate water saving of 71% compared to continuous irrigation.
